My 4 y o boy eats very slowly (could take an hour or longer), especially meat or leafy green. He tends to chew too long and not swallowing. Still have to cut or mince very small piece for him. Saw dentist before who said his teeth is fine. Any advice to improve this situation?

If his teeth are fine, it’s likely more about habit or oral motor skills. Encourage smaller bites, demonstrate chewing, and make mealtime relaxed but timed. Occupational or feeding therapists can help if it continues to slow him down significantly.

Hi, my son often grinds his teeth at night. I'm worried that it'll change his teeth structure overtime, but you know it's not that easy trying to get him out of habit. Is there anything i can do?

4w ago

Night-time grinding (bruxism) is common in children and often improves as they grow. Most kids outgrow it without long-term effects. If you notice worn teeth, jaw pain, or disturbed sleep, it’s best to have an orthodontist or dentist check. Managing stress and maintaining a calming bedtime routine can also help.

At which age should i start getting concern? Because i mean my LO is still very young, 2 yrs old. Her teeth will continue shifting and drop right? So wait until they are older? How old?

At 2 years old, it’s still early and teeth will change a lot. Most orthodontists recommend a first check around age 7, when adult teeth and jaw growth can be guided if needed. Before that, just focus on good brushing and healthy habits.

I’m confused about fluoride toothpaste for young kids... some say it’s ok to use, some say wait when they’re older? What’s the safest option or how to go about it?

4w ago

For young children, use a tiny smear of fluoride toothpaste (about the size of a grain of rice) for under 3 years, and a pea-sized amount from age 3–6. Supervise brushing to make sure they don’t swallow too much. Fluoride helps prevent cavities safely in the right amount.

My boy loves bubble tea and sweet drinks… I try to limit but sometimes hard. How badly will this affect his teeth, and what’s the best way to balance?

4w ago

Sweet drinks like bubble tea can cause cavities if taken too often. It’s fine as an occasional treat but try not to sip over long periods. Rinse with water after drinking and make sure to brush well each day.

Hi! My child is 2.5 years old and refuses to quit the pacifier. Any tips on how to slowly wean off it and will it affect her teeth/bite? Thank you!

4w ago

Pacifier use beyond age 3 can start to affect teeth and bite. Try limiting it to bedtime only, then gradually shorten the time. Positive encouragement, comfort toys, or small rewards can help with weaning.

We noticed our child’s jaw looks a bit uneven when she smiles. Is this something that can self-correct, or must see a specialist?

4w ago

An uneven jaw can sometimes improve as children grow, but it may also indicate a bite or growth issue. It’s best to have an orthodontist check early to know whether to monitor or provide gentle guidance.

My 5 year old niece’s teeth seem yellowish even though she brush twice daily. Is it staining, or something more serious?

4w ago

Some yellowing can be normal for primary teeth, especially if enamel is thinner. If the teeth are soft, have brown spots, or are sensitive, have a dentist check. Otherwise, good brushing and routine dental visits usually keep them healthy.

My 16mo seems to have an underbite and keeps making his jaw move crooked out of habit. How to stop and when to correct?

4w ago

At 16 months, jaw movements and underbites can be part of normal development. If the underbite looks obvious, have a dentist or orthodontist check. Often we just monitor, but early advice helps guide if and when correction is needed.

So worried about the cost of braces in here.. Are there affordable options that are still safe and effective for kids?

4w ago

Braces can feel expensive, but there are safe and more affordable options. Check different clinics (public + private), ask for cost breakdowns, and see if you qualify for subsidies. Early or simpler treatments tend to cost less than full braces later.
