Gripe water

My father-in-law insisted that I let my newborn drink gripe water because she on formula and breast milk. So he explains that it is easier for her to get constipation if she doesn't drink it. However I feel uneasy about it as almost everywhere mention that she doesn't drink anything other than formula and breast milk. What should I do?

I debate this exact same issue with my MIL when my baby was less than a month old. Only 1 month then i started gripe water cos my baby was on formula and constipated. Her stools were hard. I personally feel no need to give unless ur baby is really constipated.

Thanks . Hopefully he will listen....

If your baby doesn’t have colic pains, there’s no need to give gripe water for the sake of it:) Also, not all babies poop every day. It’s okay as long as baby’s feeding well and is active.. just ensure it doesn’t stretch past a week
