Doc want to induce at 37 weeks cause baby weighed 2kg. Is it ok?

I'm 37weeks now and baby is already 3.4kg. My gynae is letting me to go all the way to 40 weeks without induction. Please discuss with doctor if it's medically necessary to induce.
