Do you often get snide remarks from relatives, especially the older or more traditional ones, implying that sons are better?

My paternal side of the family seemed to prefer girls over boys. However, they seldom make any comments about the gender preferences. It was more of an observation that my sister and I have made over the years. Like what Jorelle mentioned, best way to handle any form of unpleasant remarks would be to just smile and nod. Relatives always have something to comment on and don't let those comments bother you.
