I usually explain why people swear, and how it makes people feel in different circumstances and what it may make people think about them. I tell them that people swear more in some environments than others but that doing it habitually May cause them to swear in the wrong situation so overall it’s best not to. I state that their grandparents are a zero tolerance environment and that at home we will also not practise swearing. When I catch them doing it, I point it out and they acknowledge. They have been good about being mindful and not using foul language intentionally even when they were in phases when they thought it was kind of cool.
