When my cousin was pregnant during Ramadan, she gotten so much "feedbacks" about both sides. Some said that dates were beneficial for both mother and baby as dates are loaded with nutrients such as proteins, fiber and many vitamins, while being very low in fat. They contain a combination of soluble and insoluble fiber and thus are helpful in maintaining your digestive system. Dates have a good amount of natural sugars. They are rich in potassium and low in sodium, and thus help regulate the nervous system. Some also said that the issue with dates is that they are heat releasing, and its not good to have foods which release too much heat during pregnancy. For me personally, I agree with Idza. Have them in moderations if you crave for some. My cousin had some and nothing happened. http://www.momjunction.com/articles/surprising-benefits-of-dates-during-pregnancy_0075704/
