don't worry! if baby responds to rattles and toys, it means there's no hearing problem (: toys and rattles have sounds of higher frequencies and loudness so they will naturally attract more attention from baby. you can try talking to baby more often, for instance, tell him or her what you are doing when you change the diaper, bathe etc. you can even sing or read his stories as part of the bed time routine so he or she hears your voice as often as possible.

I wouldn't be worried coz at least the baby doesn't have hearing pblms. Some babies take more time to respond to parents. Not coz they are slow, they choose not to reply. Rattles and toys are more exciting and they display sound than parents' calling. Put rattle near u as u call baby's name. Positive reinforcement and affirmation will help greatly.

Hi! I wouldn't be worried since your baby is responding to the rattle. I've read that a baby can learn to recognize his/her mummy's voice even in the womb. Your voice is comforting to him/her. Although he/she may not seem to be responding to you, I think he/she can differentiate your voice from others. :)

What you can do is to talk to your baby while carrying him or her. They can't really make out how u look but can associate the touch and sound together when u r carrying them. After some time, u will find the bond to be really strong!

Shouldn't be worry if baby does respond to rattles and toys as they are more attracted to noisy and colourful items. Try put ur face nearer to baby and call baby name.
