My baby likes to be carried face front

Hi all my baby is just only about 3.5 months old and he very much prefers to be carried facing front (one hand across his chest and other hand supporting his bottom, like almost sitting), if we try to cradle him instead or put him to rest he will not stop crying! I'm not sure if it's too early to hold him face front like this as I read babies aren't supposed to sit up so early.
