Sleepless Infant

My baby is now 1month 4days old. Is it normal that baby not sleeping? He can stay awake from morning till late evening not taking any nap. Tried so many ways to soothe him to sleep but none work. He cannot stay in bed for long nor being held for too long either. Any mom experience this? Need help.
