Hello po doc, before getting pregnant and giving birth I had regular period. Tapos ngayong 10months postpartum po ako naging irregular na sya, had my first period back when I was 6 months postpartum, and had only 2 more cycles since then. I am still exclusively breastfeeding din po. I am also not taking any contraceptive. Normal po ba ito, how long can this be expected, and babalik pa po kaya sa regular menstrual cycle? Thank you po

Hi! When you are breastfeeding, because of the hormones released, your cycle can be affected. The earliest time you can have your menses will be 4 months after delivery but may mga mommies na up to 2 years di nagkakaroon and then meron naman nagiging irregular ang cycle habang breastfeeding.

Thanks in advance po.

Hi, Jennifer! first thing to consider is if you are still breastfeeding. if so, pwede pa din magkaroon ng episodes na missed period. but it would still be best to see your OB for follow up kasi pwede na din magpap smear at this time from 6months post delivery.

If you are breastfeeding, your cycle can be quite erratic however in your case the pills should be fixing that issue. I suggest to go see your OB for an check up and ultrasound.

Kegels exercise can help ... 3 sets of 10 reps lasting 10 seconds each. Lifestyle adjustments like avoiding bladder irritants life caffeine and managing constipation (if present) may also help. If you still have the same issues after a month of doing this exercise and despite the lifestyle changes, it would be best to see your OB for a check up and possible bladder training.
