Pre-eclampsia is a pregnancy disorder characterised by high blood pressure and large amounts of protein in the urine. It increases the risk of poor outcomes for both mother and baby if left untreated and if the disease is serious. Pre-eclampsia does not affect all pregnant women. The ultrasound scan in the first trimester will identify women at risk of pre-eclampsia and will be given calcium supplements to lower the risk. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pre-eclampsia http://pregnant.sg/articles/fetal-health-screening-faqs/
