surrender flat

Anyone of you have ever surrender your flat before MOP? I would like to know did you pay anything for shortfall? How does it work. I would like to hear from here before seeking queries from HDB.

I have 2 friends who change the partner of the house so they don’t have to forgo their payment. Can try appeal to HDB.
