I have friend gave her baby goat milk due to her baby has lactose intolerance (blood in the stool). For me, I occasionally offer fresh goat milk from Hay Dairies Goat Farm to my children. The taste of fresh goat milk is nicer than the powdered form. You can read up from here on how is goat's milk different from cow's milk: http://sg.theasianparent.com/goat-milk-singapore/2/ How is it different from cow’s milk? Goat’s milk contains less lactose than cow’s milk and hence might be a suitable alternative for kids who are lactose intolerant. Additionally, if your child is allergic to cow’s milk, he or she may be able to consume goat’s milk as it does not contain the alpha S1 casein protein found in cow’s milk. Vitamin A found in goat’s milk is also more readily absorbed by the body than that in cow’s milk. Besides this, goat’s milk also has a higher content of Vitamin B2 than cow’s milk, which may help to boost your child’s immune system as it stimulates antibodies.
Why goat's milk? -easily digestible proteins -easily digestible fats -natural homogenization -higher source of vitamin A -calcium rich -more Prebiotics than cow's milk http://sg.theasianparent.com/goat-milk-for-good-health/1/ Fresh or powdered goat's milk? I used powdered goat's milk because it is easier to get. I used Karihome goat's milk infant formula step 1 to supplement my baby's feeds. They are readily available in NTUC, Cold Storage as well as medicinal halls. Price should range between $23-25. Powdered milk is also fortified with other minerals like Taurine, Choline, iron, calcium and natural nucleotides. Some parents may be uncomfortable with fortified powders as they feel it is processed. If you are one of them I suggest you get fresh goat's milk instead but the shelf life is very much reduced. http://sg.theasianparent.com/goat-milk-singapore/
