Oh don’t worry, deliveries rarely happen on the exact due date! Most deliveries happen between 37 and 41 weeks of pregnancy. Try not to be too anxious about it. Remember to rest, relax and get plenty of sleep - you won’t be able to do these after your baby is born! Apparently, climbing stairs can help in inducing labour soon. Also, nipple stimulation, as it helps in releasing oxytocin, which may start contractions. And, having sex helps it seems! The orgasm that you experience and the prostaglandins present in semen may trigger contractions and induce labour.

Oh yes, it’s normal - most pregnancies last 37 to 42 weeks. Your due date is actual estimated based on the first day of your last period, and by using an ultrasound. But so many mummies can’t remember the exact date of their last period, so there can be inaccuracies. Also, not all menstrual cycles are the same length. If labour doesn’t happen by the end of week 41, your doctor might suggest inducing labour.

It’s normal. My baby came out in week 41. It seems about 30% of pregnancies go beyond week 40. If baby doesn’t come out by end of week 41, doctor might suggest labour induction or C-section. Meanwhile, you should monitor baby’s movements twice a day. Make sure that there are 10 movements at least in 2 hours. Also watch out for any signs of labour like water breaking, contractions, mild diarrhoea etc.

I’m in my 40th weeks too! No sign of labour yet. Gynae said to wait until 41st weeks to induce labour. So for now just monitor baby’s movement at least 10 kicks within 2 hours!! Don’t worry about it! 😊.
