Advice of the day: Be careful about coffee! Pregnant women are recommended to limit their caffeine consumption to fewer than 200 milligrams (mg) per day. That roughly equals drinking one 3 dl (10 ounces) cup of Starbucks coffee. Going over that amount could be risky and some studies have linked drinking more than 200 mg of caffeine a day with an increased risk of miscarriage and low birth weight. Drinking large amounts of caffeine (eight cups of coffee or more a day) has been linked with stillbirth. Keep in mind that other drinks such as coke, tea and energy drinks may also contain caffeine.
