38 weeks induction- baby small
At 38 weeks my baby is weighing 2.4kg. Doc say she’s small. Although she’s healthy and moving I am not leaking he checked and also did membrane sweep all is well (1cm dilated only), he still recommended an induction. I honestly feel it is no necessary. He mentioned water levels for baby is on lower side, and small so induction is best. Honestly I think he was being pushy then necessary! I’m on government route btw so not my personal gynae. What do you guys think? I have to go back on Wed to scan again because he did not want to issue me a longer HL yet.
try to eat some durian and see if can gain some weight for the baby. i understand that some baby may not be getting much nutrients after week 38 or so, thus harder to grow bigger. could also be umbilical cord issue e.g. knots, hence the baby is not getting enough nutrients and explains the small size. i read this from another mother who had small size baby. and since the gynae mentioned that fluid is on the low side, then there is a risk of complication during birth, baby could go into distress and u may end up emergency c-sect. so i think u should listen to the gynae and get induce soon.
Read moreI went to get a second opinion! So my amniotic fluid was 4.5. Good amount is above 5, above 4 below 5 there is some risk and below 4 is totally high risk. So I’m just in the middle at 4.5. The doc said however baby heartbeat is good so it’s really up to me. Pros and cons of course. I decided to wait because I feel she’s not ready to come out. Back to another appointment on Monday. Wish me luck guys! And thank you for your replies!! Sometimes I feel it’s good to listen to our bodies too. Praying I did the right thing.
Read moreThere's only so much that the baby can grow within these few week and I think it'll be a concern if the water level drop even further. I went through kkh, doc ask to induce at 38 weeks, baby was 2.6 during check up and delivery. Gynae said coz of my height its better to give birth to a baby below 3kg. My water broke 2 days before I was due to be induced. As for the dilation, you may not need to worry. I was 1 cm as well and after 24 hours, it became 10 cm. Just continue your exercises and diet meanwhile.
Read moreIf fluid level is low, best to go with induce. My gynae let me wait till baby comes naturally (overdued) and my next appt was in the noon, did a scan and was told that fluid was low, I was induced on the same night. Entire process from admission, induce till labour was 6 hours for me. For ref, my baby was even smaller. She was overdued but only 2.6KG at birth (she’s healthy btw). I wouldn’t worry if it’s only the weight, but if fluid is low, you don’t really have a choice..
Read moreIf gynae says water level is low and baby is not gaining weight well, I will listen to the gynae and induce as I do not want to risk baby going into distress. But maybe you want to ask another gynae within the hospital on your next visit to see what he/she says.
hi don't trust doctor too much 😆 my baby was predicted big and end up he is cute, tiny and healthy. wishing u safe delivery mommy!
Erm, get a second opinion maybe?
