How can I calculate my EDD?

Your due date is calculated by adding 280 days (40 weeks) to the first day of your last menstrual period (assuming a 28 day cycle). Note that your menstrual period and ovulation are counted as the first two weeks of pregnancy. If you deliver on your due date, your baby is actually only 38 weeks old, not 40. Please remember that your due date is only an estimate. Every pregnancy is unique and your baby will come when it's ready. Be sure to talk to your doctor or OBGYN about your due date.

What are the different types of scans?

An ultrasound scan is an assessment tool commonly used by doctors during your pregnancy. It is a safe and useful way of obtaining images of your baby and his/her surrounding environment to provide useful information on his/her health. I have PCOS and am not able to conceive even after trying for so many years. Is PCOS the root cause of this?

The most common issue among women with PCOS is that they are not ovulating, even though they are menstruating. Urine test with the urine ovulation test kit or a blood test can be done to determine if you are ovulating. If there is no ovulation, then tablets to promote ovulation will be given in the first 5 days of your period. Failing which, IVF treatment may be needed to help you get pregnant.
