Red Date Tea during Confinement after Gestational Diabetes

I have GDM during pregnancy. It should go away after birth but dietician says should still keep healthy diet to minimize future T2DM. But mum says confinement can only drink red date/longan tea and not plain water. Any similar experience and advice?

Just to update and answer my own question if anyone is interest… after birth, GDM was indeed resolved. Dietician also assured me that it was ok to resume normal diet including red date longan tea (I avoided adding more sugar). The red date tea was indeed nourishing. You will need that extra sweetness for energy and comfort during this stressful period.
