Relactation

Hey. I exclusively pumped for a month but had to drop it because of my baby's regurgitation. I am trying to relactate now that my son's better. I would appreciate your suggestions and workable ideas. (my baby's about 8 and a half months old and I am exclusively pumping)

Query - One Month Old

Why does my baby throw up milk more like vomit? Through his nose sometimes too.

Baby’s stomach is very small, so it’s easy for milk to come back up (regurgitate). It’s important to burp him frequently, after every feed, and even halfway during the feed too. If you’re breastfeeding, burp him after finishing one side and before latching onto the other. If you’re bottle feeding, at this age, burp him after every 30-40ml. If he was lying down while feeding, get him to sit up slowly to burp/over your shoulder. Changing the position too quickly can also make him throw up more, and leaning him forward for burping too quickly can also make it worse. There is a medical condition (pyloric stenosis) that can cause terrible vomiting (a lot, and goes quite far), plus he’ll always be hungry, and he won’t poop well. If those things are present and you’re worried, bring him to see a PD.
