Private clinic or Polyclinic?

Can I still ask for a referral letter to a hospital for a subsidized route if I go to a private clinic? Or must I go to Polyclinic?

You need to go to polyclinic to get referral to be a subsidised patient in govt hospitals.

KK Subsidised Journey?

Hi all! Planning to go under KKH Subsidised route.. wonder any experienced mummies can share their experiences there? And also what to expect? My first check will be some time end of the month.. First time mum here..

Congratulations!! I have not experienced this but I heard it’s a different doctor each visit and during delivery it would be any on call doctor. May I know how many weeks would you be during your first check up, my first check up is first week of December.

NUH private or subsidised?

Hello! Can anyone share your experience with private or subsidised gynae at NUH. And also when should I go for my first appointment after a positive pregnancy kit result?

This was my experience 5 years ago at NUH. I was under the subsidy, my first child. Took the test, went to poly to confirm, request referral to NUH. Got my slot only at 12 weeks because I was late to test and therefore had to push my slot to the earliest but that's the only one left at NUH. I missed all the necessary appt for the first tri, NIPT, etc. For subsidy patients you will go to G Clinic. Not that sure if there are changes here/there in NUH due to recent renovation within the compound. All my appointments were smooth despite the heavy waiting time, limited slots/seats within the clinic. I had some free check ups due to the delay. But this free check up comes with student doctor on training with the senior doctor. So if you are comfortable or not you can let them know. For other checks like ultrasound, checking of water level, etc will be at FCC which is another building different from G Clinic. I had a very good experience from pre natal to birth. Despite being in subsidy, treatment for the patients was very good. They handle all situations in a well mannered protocol. Friendly staff, midwife and nurses even doctors. So far so good. Anything seems negative or off you can let them know.

Private or public?

Do u all go to private gynae for first check up or private. Just tested positive but I don’t know what am I suppose to do next. Anyone is choosing Thomson medical to give birth? Will the charges be high?

First time pregnancy

What should I not do and do for first time pregnancy

The typical don’t smoke, don’t drink alcohol, don’t eat raw food, watch your medications, avoid rigorous exercise. Eat the pregnancy supplements, go for checkups, stay moderately active and nourish yourself with good and real food. Spend quality time with your baby. Talk and tell your baby what you’re doing, how’s your day etc. Enjoy the pregnancy cause it flies by real fast! And try to get as much sleep as possible 🤣

What should I do?

Between my positive pregnancy result and my first ultrasound in week 6 , do I have to do anything in between like any test I should take ? I’ve already done my blood test when I confirmed my pregnancy .

I didn’t do any tests when I found out that I’m pregnant thru urine test at week 4. I just booked gynae appt at week 6 and patiently wait for it. Doc asked me to continue eat folic acid and vitamin d in the meantime.

Fear till ultrasound

3 weeks pregnant and still have a long way to go for my 1st ultrasound. So worried till then. Any tips to not worry ?

Worrying about? It’s normal to feel that way, but you will need to learn to relax and trust your gynae.

Falling sick before beta blood test

Was due for blood beta test on 20 Nov 23 and did home pregnancy test showing positive result (abt 3 to 4 weeks). However was feeling abit feverish and mild sore throat and wonder if it will affect the pregnancy. Took 1 paracetamol and trying to use home remedies, hopefully for this feeling to go away. Anyone with such experience and will it affect the fresh pregnancy? Abit upset thinking that things finally work but now sick before the blood test.

What do gynaes check for at your first appointment after referred from polyclinic?

Can I check when polyclinic refers you for your first appt, what kind of things do they do? Do they arrange for blood test n ultrasound on same day? Cause I've just tested positive via polyclinic urine test and they refer me to hosp which is weeks away in Dec and I'm super anxious. Thinking if I should go GP for blood test to find out how many weeks in etc.

If referred from polyclinic to hospital will be a subsidized route. They will check on the necessary for you and baby, ultrasound (heartbeat) then check on your last LMP then give you the necessary supplement like folic acid. If you go GP it will still be estimated.

1-2 week pregnancy

My hgc level is 10.5 is it normal for less than 3 weeks? Any precautions I have to take ? When should I schedule for doctor appointment?

It is best to have another HCG level taken after 48-72 hours. It’s more important to look at the rate of increase ◡̈ I’m also awaiting my first HCG level.
