Baby size and Menstrual cycle

Yesterday I met my doctor for the first time and glad to see my baby is growing up in uterus. It is supposed to be week 6, however doctor said embryo is a week smaller. So he counted as week 5. May I ask do anyone know is the menstrual cycle affect? My menstrual cycle is 32 days

Maybe the ovulation is later hence conception is later. When I went for my first appt, I was suppose to be 6 week too but doc measured as 5 w 3 days. 1 month later, measure 11 weeks 1 day so a few days difference only from when I count using lmp. Not to worry. Sometimes the baby is too small to measure they can only estimate how old the baby is. Wait for your 2nd appt for a clearer pic and edd!

i also faced something similar. i have irregular mense and when i went to a GP, i was estimated to be 9wks based on ny last mense however when i went to the gynae, she measured and told me i was only 6wks.. due to my irregular mense, ovulation could have happened late.. dont worry too much as long as baby is ok

I have pcos. And irregular menses. So Dr just do the scanning as per normal estimated but not yet finalised until abt 11 weeks then you will get your edd.

The scan always has an error margin of 1 week + or -. So don't worry. Consult your gynaecologist in case the margin is more than a week.

Thanks a lot

My cycle is rather long and irregular. I was 8 weeks after last menstruation at my first gynae appointment. The foetus turned out to be about 5w3d only. I'd say it's more accurate to estimate from the ultrasound than from date of your last period
