What is the right age to send the kid to boarding school? Do you think one must give their children the experience of boarding at least once be it for a year or two?

I think 12 or 13, is the right age as the kid is not too small to not manage things on his own and not emotionally as dependant as he or she would be when younger. Personally, I think that boarding experience adds to the child's personality. He gets the view of things from a new angle. It is not just about being independent or being disciplined, that a kid can become at home as well if provided the atmosphere, but I think being in boarding is about living life on their own for a little while. Facing each day's challenges on their own and looking up to friends for support and they also the ones who are also sailing in the same boat. It is more about camaraderie and brotherhood. And I think this enriching experience only boarding stay can provide.

there is no right or wrong age as such, and it entirely depends on you and your kid. there are some boarding schools that have kids as young as kindergarten! i personally do not think that a kid should be sent to a boarding school even if for a couple of years. as responsible and loving and caring parents, we can easily teach them the right values even at home.

I don't think it is necessary for the kids to go to a boarding school to learn discipline or independence. Generally when they go to college they go to hostel. For me, I would want to be with my kids for as long as possible.
