Both our kids transit out of crib before they turned 6 months. More space for them to roll when sleeping, less restricted.

If the child fits in I would keep it as a crib then convert it to a toddler bed
we've got the harder challenge of transition him out of our bed! 🤔lol

Yes. because that way we can see that the baby is developing
I never put my kid in crib but rather a bumper bed.
