This is my blue black marks from the drip while in labour last week. It still hurts - is this Normal? How do I reduce the pain?

I experienced blue black mark at the drip area too. It took about 2-3weeks for the mark to disappear totally. However, I only experienced little pain at the blue black area for the first few days. So, I guess it is quite normal as your blood vessel has been hurted. If you feel the pain is unbearable, you can seek your gynae's help to see if he/she will prescribe some painkiller for you.

I was put on glucose drip for my entire 16 hrs labour but I did not develop any blue black. I don't think it is normal especially if it causes you pain. Is it because the nurses had inserted the tube unsuccessfully for multiple times resulting in blue black? You can try to use a warm cloth to rub against the blue black to improve the blood circulation around the area.
