Should a single mom date even if it upsets her 7 yr old? Divorced for 12 years, and would like to go out occasionally!

That's a tricky one dear and I must say you've been a really strong woman to be a single mom for all these years. While you've surely given your role as mother the utmost priority, as a woman, I for one definitely feel that yes, you should go out and meet someone you like to be with. I understand the child's anger and hurt, and as it is also a very sensitive issue, I feel you should sit with her and ask her why she is upset. Is it because of insecurity? Please assure your child in words and actions that no matter what happens, the child will always remain the first priority. Tell her that just as she has friends, mommy also needs a special friend.
