I did that for my first child.
1. I wanted a gynae to be present at birth and not just midwives or medical students. For subsidized, it would be a medical student. I wasn’t comfortable that every visit there wasn’t a scan. Especially towards the end where I feel that it is v important to monitor fluid levels etc.
2. I chose a regular consultant. So instead of $40+ a visit, I paid $90-$110/ visit with scans.
3. Once you’re a PTE patient, you can only choose A1, B1 and B2+. Those require cash upfront at delivery. B2+ was $2500 deposit, which they eventually wrote a Cheque back to me for the balance.
