Fever in pregnancy

Hi please help! I’m 8 weeks along and I am having a fever. I had symptoms of sore throat, then fever, runny nose and cough. The sore throat went away after 3 days. However, the fever has persisted for 5 days already. Temperature has been going between 37.4deg to 38.4deg at its highest. I went to the hospital and got swabbed. I’m negative for Covid. They gave me plain paracetamol and told me to only take it if my temperature is very high. I only took it when my fever reached 38deg. My temperature is mostly stuck at 37.8deg, but after a nap now it’s 38deg again. I’m worried that my fever might lead to birth defects. Please share your experience and what I should do.
