My nephew turns 1 in January and already every one around her is telling her prepare him for weaning of breast feeding completely. She wants to carry on feeding for at least another six months of not another year. Any one else here who had to deal with family pressures to stop breastfeeding when baby turned 1?

Please tell her not to be affected by people's comments. Just smile and tell them you will wean when baby is fully ready. For me, when my parents and grandmother saw me still latching my 2 years old toddler they will comment it is time to wean because I am pregnant and I understand where they are coming from. I told them I will wean once myself and the baby are ready to do so. And yes, within a month we managed to do it smoothly.
