Must baby be able to sit up on his own before he can consume solids?

You can give him solid even if he needs assistance in sitting. There’s no need for baby to sit unassisted then can give him solid. For my baby I gave her solid when she’s 6 months and she only knows how to sit up unassisted when she’s 8 month old. As long as he can sit up with support eg. In the high chair, and has good neck control to keep his head up during feeding. Most babies can do that by 6 months

Your child should be able to sit assisted for a short while before starting solid.
