White noise volume

Hi mummies, those using white noise be it the machine itself or from your phone. At what volume do you set? Low volume or loud ? Or just loud enough for baby to hear ?

I put loud enough for me to accept (some volumes are unbearable) but at the same time won’t bury baby’s cries. But I don’t put it near baby, I put it few feet away.
