Hi mummies, please share your experience with me. Currently am 7 weeks pregnant with #2, will be taking folic acid till week 12 then doc prescribed me obimin & fish oil and stop folic acid. With my #1, i didn't even take these 2 because of the smells and i can't swallow big pills, folic acid i can. Thinking back of those pills makes me wanna vomit. Most of u will say it's a must to take. But I just can't take it. Is there any alternatives for these 2 pills? I heard of fish oil gummies. Do they have it in Singapore? How does it taste like? TIA!

You can consider taking Omega 3 rich flaxseed oil which refrigerated. So, when you take it cold, it won't be so bad. Alternatively take healthy nuts and seeds such as walnut, almond, sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds. These are good source of omega 3, an alternative to DHA. Take whole food supplement such as spirulina or super green food to meet your nutritional requirement instead of consuming each vitamins and minerals. Also consider Vitamin B complex for the first three months. This helps to relieve nausea and vomiting in the first trimester. Hope that helps.

You can be selective of the food choices like snack dried fruits, nuts and seeds, dried seaweed instead of junk foods. Craving is a way your body tells you that you need nutrients. Mainly minerals. Enjoy exploring healthy food choices.

I know of friends who didn't take any supplements but children came out well and active. You may want to consider eating nutritious food to boost up the nutrients required for baby's growth. Go for salmon or cod which are rich in omegas. I hadn't tried fish gummies for adults but for children I gave burstlets meaning flavoured fish oil in soft capsules. Despite the flavour, I could still taste fishy. Gummies are usually with sugar it may taste better. Option 2: request for sample from the brand that you wish to try. Else money wasted for not taking them.

Eating salmon & cod fish is enough to cover the supplement amount? What is the brand of the gummies? Is the fish oil's smell strong in the gummies?

I was diligent with taking supplments for my #1 child. Whereas for my #2 child, i didn't take any supplement or even folic acid as i was constantly busy looking after my #1. I took more fresh milk, ate more fishes and healthy food. I believe these supplement are of additional boost to the mother's health. Back in the olden days, they didn't had any supplements too. my #2 child is born healthy too despite not eating any supplements

Pregnant with no2. Taking all supplements gynae prescribes. Folic acid continues throughout the entire pregnancy. The DHA oil, iron and calcium also continue throughout entire pregnancy. If u want alternatives better check with ur gynae..

U can go for plant based type of DHA pills. The brand my gyane used is algae type and small gel pills with no fishy smell and easy to swallow. Also vegetarian

Else you eat salmon. I eat salmon n the fish oil too.
