Recurring yeast infection

Any mummies here experience frequent yeast infection during pregnancy? I am only at week 21 but already had it 3 times since I got pregnant. Gynae prescribed me with antifungal pessary during my last appointment, it did clear up for about a week and then it came back. The itch is bothering me a lot. Should I see a GP or visit other specialist clinic for now? My next gynae appointment is still 3 weeks away. #advicepls

I’ve experienced it since my first trimester (I’m at week 22 now), and initially it was a weekly occurrence. Then I realised panty liner makes everything worst so I started avoiding panty liners & also wore undies that’s more airy to help as moisture will cause more bacteria growth. And do not use heavy detergent to wash your undies especially if you hand wash it, I find that light weight detergent or even those meant for babies one works better cause right now anything can trigger the yeast infection to be back. And consider getting a PH balance spray to help. This are the few things I did, but for me it doesn’t seem to fully go away but it helped a lot and I have also accepted my fate.

Thank you so much for sharing, will try those out. Heard that it’ll go away after giving birth, let’s hope it is true…

You should see a Gyn (public/ private). I have frequent yeast infection till delivery. I saw both specialist and public doctors and they prescribe the same type of pessary and they both assured me that it is safe to use. So please don’t worry. I used boiling water and panty detergent to wash my panties and also change panty liner to pure cotton ones. It helped to reduce the frequency. I also used sebamed sensitive wash. Please consult your gynaecologist before using feminine wash.

Thanks for your assurance and suggestions!

Hi mummy! I have the same issue as you too - the flagystatin pessaries do not work for me. I tried it twice this pregnancy. What works is the gynotravogen pessaries. Can be bought at guardian! I got a prescription from my gynae and bought. It can range from 1 - 3 pessaries. I also tried a probiotics wash called boyani - it was recommended to me by a fellow mummy who also has recurrent yeast infections

Hi Mummy-to-be, I had this for two pregnancies and was prescribed with med too.. You can always request your gynae to prescribe u e medication even before your next appt.. Most pte gynae allow..

For itch you can consider getting a cream from the gynae to help. If the itch is internal then might need to get pessaries
