Car seat on a budget

Is it more advisable to get a good brand car seat that is second hand or a less known brand car seat? Our budget is $250-$300

I bought mine from mothercare (house brand- Mothercare) below $100. So far so good. But i heard Graco is a good brand but shld be more exp😊
