Eating sand at the beach?

Hi moms, So tmr will be my almost 1 yr old’s first time at a beach. He is a baby who relies heavily on his senses, which means that he will put anything and everything in his mouth (despite my bestest effort to tell him not to and to stop him from doing it). I’m just worried that he’ll eat sand or drink the ocean water haha. He has alr put leaves, rocks, dirt, bubbles etc (the list is long) in his mouth. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m glad nth has happened so far. What shld I do to help him not put sand in his mouth at the beach? 🥹 I thought putting things in their mouth is a phase, but he has been doing it since he was 4 months 😐 #firstbaby #firsttimemom

it’s normal for kids to behave like that and put things in their mouth. it’s how they learn and it’s developmentally healthy. don’t see it as a bad thing. you must emphasize verbally and firmly “sand is not for eating, but you can scoop and play with it”. you need to emulate and educate immediately.
