Lip tie & Tongue tie

I gave birth to my newborn just 2 weeks ago, and I already noticed that she have trouble opening her mouth wide when trying to latch on me during the first two days of feeding her. It looks like a tongue tie to me, so I asked the nurses to check with a paediatrician to have a look at it. In the end, it really is a tongue tie, but the removal procedure was really simple, just a little snip at the bottom of the baby’s tongue and she’ll be okay in a few hours. I was at a private hospital, so the total cost is about 400+ (consultation + procedure). Regardless of where you’re doing this, it is advisable to get your baby checked asap, you don’t want to wait until your bub is too old, it will hurt even further for them or when they’re an adult, they’ll have a hard time with their speech.

if you have the means, i recommend you go to a lactation consultant. one nurse i encountered said my baby might have tongue tie. i had so much trouble with feeding my newborn and went to a consultant. turns out my baby has poor oral motor skills and just needed some oral stimulation exercise. after a few days she could latch properly, get more milk and I'm no longer in pain.
