A fetal biophysical profile is a prenatal test used to check on a baby's well-being. The test combines fetal heart rate monitoring (nonstress test) and fetal ultrasound to evaluate a baby's heart rate, breathing, movements, muscle tone and amniotic fluid level. A pelvic ultrasound is a test that uses sound waves to make pictures of the organs inside your pelvis. Your doctor might order this test to diagnose a condition, or to check the health of your baby while still in the womb.
