I've experienced a slew of breastfeeding problems since day 1! Shorter nipples with huge breasts, nipple shield(weaned her off at week 2), an oversupply of milk, mastitis, and now...her preference of one breast (where milk flows faster) to the other has affected my milk supply! How should I overcome this? Can the speed of milk flow be improved?

While you're nursing baby on the breast of preference, pump the other. The more you pump or nurse, the healthier the flow. Hopefully, by doing this, it will help even out the milk flow speeds between the two breasts and baby will not be preferring one over the other.
