Is there a difference between losing your mucus plug and having a bloody show? These past few days my discharge has changed to like light green snot and I'm not sure if I'm losing bits of my mucus plug.

I remember my pregnant friend saying this, "Well when my mucus plug goes, if it ever goes, it will be mucusy and it'll be a bloody show soon after." She was 2 weeks overdue and generally tired of being pregnant haha. On a serious note, when the cervix dilates in preparation for labour, the cervical mucus plug is passed. When the plug loosens and washes out of the body, bloody show (blood-tinged cervical mucus and/or a small amount of blood) can result. A mucus plug's colour varies but generally it is green and looks, for a lack of a better word, "phlegmy". Sometimes it could also be reddish or brownish cos tinged with blood. You can lose your mucus plug at one go or lose it gradually, in bits. http://www.pregnancyandbaby.com/pregnancy-birth/articles/967307/the-truth-about-your-mucus-plug
