Mucus Plug

Hi Mummies, how to differentiate between mucus plug and normal discharge ? What does it means when there’s mucus plug ? Will there be contraction ?

It’s dark red and looks like really thick mucus (like when you blow your nose when you’re sick and have mucus coming out). Sometimes there can be a contraction felt before a piece of it comes out. It can come around the time of active labour, or in my case, I had mucus plugs coming out for 6 days before I delivered my baby

Is it usually accompanied with blood ? I’m at my 34 weeks already.
