Worried Mom

Im currently at 4 weeks pregnant. When to poly yesterday to get referral letter and was told that the hosp(NUH) will call within 2 weeks. I had a miscarriage twice. Baby no heartbeat and cervical ectopic. Is it too late to wait? So far no bleeding. Only minor stomach cramps on/off. I also read from some forum that they will only ask to you come for appointment when you are at 12weeks pregnant. Isit true? #advicepls #pleasehelp

I had a previous EP and received treatment at KKH, and one doc during that time told me if I ever get pregnant again, to just get myself into KKH’s UOGC (a&e for pregnant women). So this time round, I found out when I was only 3.5 weeks along and I rushed down to KKH’s UOGC. Subsidized patient because it is a&e. Too early to see anything, so they took blood test, got me to come back 2 days later for another blood test to see if hcg levels progressing correctly (EP usually has different hcg levels trend than normal pregnancy). Thankfully, my hcg levels did double, a good indication. Then I went back again at week 5 to see if there was anything in my uterus and we managed to see GS and YS in uterus, but too early for heartbeat. So gynae said to go again only in week 8 - for me that is 5 Oct. So maybe if you are truly worried and given your past history, it is ok to go a&e? At least that’s how it was for me, as advised by one gynae during my last EP treatment process.

Too early to see anything. Best & the recommended week to go for a scan is at 8 weeks and above. I had a miscarriage a year before I got pregnant again. I went to the polyclinic for a referral to NUH at 6 weeks pregnant last year and got my first appointment ultrasound at 10 weeks + pregnant. Just so you know, there's really many pregnant women this year and the waiting time for the referral may be long. But do check the Healthub app. If you want a piece of mind you can opt for a private scan until you see the gynae at NUH but don't be alarm if they can't detect anything yet cos really, 4 weeks is way too early to see a fetal pole or a heartbeat. Also if you base your pregnancy on your LMP, it may not be accurate. You could be earlier than 4 weeks or probably later than that.

Me too, I felt cramps on and off. Went to my family doctor to ask if it’s normal to have cramps but he sent me off to A&E instead. I was also 4 weeks pregnant then, the doctor tried scanning but nothing can be detected. So they just took my blood, HCG is increasing and I wasn’t spotting. So the doctor also told me to just wait for Week 5 to at least be able to see something on the scan. I’m going for my week 5 scan tomorrow, fingers crossed!

I'm about 5 weeks pregnant and went to the polyclinic on Mon (27/09) to get the referral letter for NUH. Likewise, doc mentioned NUH would call within 2 weeks to schedule an appt. I didn't receive any calls but found out through the OneNUHS app that I got an appt on 13 Oct. You might be able to find out the appt date faster through the app. Hope this helps!

thank you for the information!

4 weeks may be too small to detect. I called a private gynae and even for private I was scheduled a consultation for when I hit 8 weeks according to online calculator. went and discovered I was only 6 weeks. fetus was just a sac and couldn't be detected through ultrasound. had to use a probe.

Same here

If you’re worried, just get scan at private clinic at wk 7. I had a missed miscarriage earlier this year-had my first scan at wk 8, but only confirmed it’s a non viable pregnancy a week later after my first scan as there’s no growth in that 1 wk.

Super Mum

I think going to the hospital to check after week 7 is ok. But if you would like a peace of mind after the trauma you’ve gone through, just visit a private clinic first while waiting for the NUH appointment.

I get my scan from private at 4 week. Can hear the heart beat but can see the heart is beating. So it depend too. If u worry go for private first while waiting for appointment.

it’s too early in fact. actually 7 weeks is the best time, only then can detect heartbeat. anytime before then only can see a sac

I went straight to kkh a&e. They have an early pregnancy clinic.. The rate is private though
