Baby weaning on solids, what is “cereals”?

I see people recommending cereals but what is it exactly if I want to cook fresh instead of buying cerelac? Is it just cooking normal porridge and blend to purée? Sorry for the stupid qn!

you can make your own cereal by buying oats and cook it, add fruits or purée. Alternatively, you can buy instant oatmeal cereal. Not much difference I feel that if you buy oats to make cereal, they must be cut or mashed into very small fine pieces to avoid baby choking

yes

I just started solid and yes i straight away start on puree and porridge! No cereal or cerealac. I just feel like its a “processed food”, i rather cook for my baby as of now.

After cook porridge, blend it till smooth consistency.

i started with instant baby cereal, mainly for the fortified iron and mineral content etc
