MMR vaccine

I am a mum who is pro-vaccination but I have been told by a relative that the MMR vaccine is a very strong vaccine and could cause autism / vaccine injury due to the presence of formaldehyde. I was told not to follow the vaccination schedule and delay giving the vaccine as long as possible. My relative told me that her 1.5 year old grandchild almost became autistic as he suddenly became unsociable / quietened down for a period of time after the vaccination. Any mummies encountered the same?

Super Mum

The MMR vaccine does not cause autism. This myth has been debunked hundreds of times already. Measles, mumps and rubella are real diseases that kill babies. Unlike many other vaccines which are given in infancy, this vaccine (first dose) is scheduled at 1 year old. The doctors have done their research and put this at the right time for our LOs to take the vaccine without being harmed. Autism also cannot be officially diagnosed at 1.5 years old, and a child quietening down is not equivalent to autism either. We mummies do what we need to do to protect our little ones from suffering potentially fatal illnesses. ❤️
