Most parents bathe their newborns the traditional way, holding their newborn under their arm with one hand and bathing with another. However, it is highly advisable to purchase a bathtub with an infant bath sling to save your sanity and make bath time fuss free. I recommend the Fisher Price Sling'n'Seat tub. Alternatively, you could get the Summer Infant bath insert. My baby loves bath time because she isn't iron-gripped under her arm and can splash and kick around on her own, supported. To prevent infection of the umbilical cord, don't bathe your baby in a tub until it has fallen off. 1. Ensure the temperature of the bath water is warm but not scalding (use your elbow to test) 2. Use gauze with cool boiled water to clean your baby's mouth 3. Use a washcloth to wipe the baby, especially her neck, back of ears, genitals and between the fat rolls. A lot of dirt gets trapped in between. http://sg.theasianparent.com/bathing_your_baby_melissa_lau/ Watch this video on how to bathe your baby: http://sg.theasianparent.com/how_to_bath_a_baby/
