Down Syndrome Test

I am 39 and I'm in my 10+weeks. I am to make a decision to do the test or not. The thing is, I had a terrible experience 3 years ago with my previous test. I did the blood test n scanning. And from the scanning results, the doc told me that my baby's nuchal translucency was thick and he had no nasal bone, which resulted to a recommendation of termination. Both me and my spouse were devastated. It's was so stressful that I was crying almost daily and also affected my husband's work performance. But the both of us took the decision to keep our baby as we will accept whatever the outcome of our baby. It was the most terrible few months til labour. Even in labour, while I'm having contractions, pushing my baby out, the doc was still reminding us that our baby will be down syndrome. My world came down to pieces. But with God's grace and love, my baby turn out normal and healthy. Imagine if I heed their advice when they told me to terminate my pregnancy, what would I have lost? Now I have a healthy 2.5 year old active boy. Totally fine and nothing wrong. And now, I am in a situation where I don't know if I should do the test again or not? It's really taking alot in my mind now and I have to make decision by 23rd Nov. I don't want to go through another stressful pregnancy. Please help me mommies.

Although I am in no position to give you any advice, I hope you find peace and have a smooth and happy pregnancy journey. Sorry to hear that you had a worrying pregnancy for your first, really hope you get to enjoy pregnancy this time round. Pls take good care and stay strong.

I have the same experience but I didn't do the test as its too much to think about. The anxiety and stress is unbearable. I will keep my baby regardless so why go through that test?Have faith in yourself and most importantly trust God as he has plan for everything.

If your decision is to keep the baby no matter what, then skip the test. If the test helps you to make any decision (ie: to keep the baby? To prepare yourself in advance that your child have Down syndrome, what to look out for? ), take it

Hi, despite my age, hubb & I decided not to go for the test as well. We are “pro life”, not “pro choice” kind of parents. Having full faith in GOD. This is our 1st baby! 😉

hi mummy, i think u took the oscar test which has many false high risks.. it's better to go for nipt this time as it is more accurate.

I was inform of high risk and I took Amniocentesis test and result says no issue. Deliver in dec2021
