Toughen up

How would you react when someone tells you that you should let your 2 or 3 weeks old baby boy to cry it out even if the crying lasts for 15 minutes so as to toughen him up?? Sounds very ridiculous to me...

It’s just ridiculous. No scientific basis in that statement somehow.
