Hi Mummy. Need advice from you. i have just renovated my kitchen cabinet. if i placed my onion potato n garlic in the drawer. Will it get spoil?? Many thanks

Onion and garlic ideally should be kept in a ventilated area, usually I would keep them in a basket and leave them on the shelf or counter. They can be kept together. Potatoes, on the other hand, should be kept in a cool dark place. I keep them in a bag and place the bag in a drawer or cupboard. Do note that onions and potatoes shouldn't be kept together because onions emit a gas that will cause potatoes to bud and sprout.

i would suggest you place the onions, potatoes and garlic in separate drawers. keeping them separately will increase their shelf life and will not cause the potatoes to sprout the buds fast. there are various kitchen containers that come specifically for storing onions and potatoes, and have small holes in them that allow ventilation.
