Braxton Hicks are a lot less painful (but still uncomfortable), and are irregular. Real contractions should also get more and more frequent, with increasing intensity and duration of each contraction

Braxton hicks contractions will be irregular and go away after a while. Real contractions will be regular and become more intense as time goes by. It can be anytime of the day
