Here's one feeding guide that makes sense!
Some notes:
- BLW: This is fine, especially if your baby did not have a breastfeeding problem. Feeding also has stages. If your baby had a history of a breastfeeding problem I recommend feeding your baby in stages. However nothing is set in stone! You can adjust your technique as you see fit!
- Sitting as a prerequisite to giving solid food: Well, yes but by sitting- it means with support. The purpose of this requirement is mostly to avoid choking. Babies are expected to sit without support by 8-9 months. This is already a late start to complementary feeding, which we do to fill the nutrient gaps that breastmilk or formula milk cannot provide to your baby starting at around 6 months of age (however continue breastfeeding.)
- Some child populations, like ours in the Philippines, need supplementation because of common diet deficiencies. That is why some form of vitamin/mineral supplementation is being recommended. Examples are Vitamin A, Iron and iodine. Some need Zinc, Vitamin D or B Vitamins.
