First trimester Dating scan

Doc wrote a referral to KKH for a dating scan. She told me it’s to check a more accurate EDD and for Down syndrome etc. But I just read online that it’s only for selected cases. It’s for women who may have miscarriages or serious illnesses before. Should I be worried and did she not tell me something I should know?
