Do childcares provide food for kids at 18mths? What if the kid is allergic or refuses to eat certain food? Can we bring our own food? Also, at 18mths, do the teachers feed the kids or do the kids have to feed themselves?

Yes, childcare provides food (breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks). If your child is having any food allergy you must communicate with the school to avoid certain food. You definitely can prepare your own food for your kid to bring to school but make sure you remind the teacher about your intention. I have a friend who does not want her child to eat processed food like hotdog and sausage decided to cook own lunch and let the child bring to the cc and the child eats lunch from home. Regarding on child refuses to take certain food, normally he/she will take the food in school due to peer influence. My daugther does not like certain food e.g. glutinious rice at home, however her teacher feedback that she seems to like it in school. At 18 months old, a child is still quite young to self feed. Normally teachers will feed the students if he/he is not ready in self feeding yet. But teacher will definitely encourage the child to learn how to self-feed.
